Volunteers Read Aloud for Dr. Hicks Literacy Day
Approximately 120 community volunteers spread across Sherman ISD elementary and early childhood campuses for the fourth annual Dr. Hicks Literacy Day on Friday, March 6. The event, hosted in collaboration with the United Way of Grayson County, welcomes guest readers to share books with students in PK-2 classrooms.
Former SISD Superintendent Dr. David Hicks, who passed away in 2022, championed early education and literacy programs. The event coincides with his birthday and Read Across America Week.
